Ginés Sánchez, councillor for Public Transport presented the new equipment for the Orihuela Costa busd service, installed in both of the actual bus lines on the Coast.
According to the Councillor, residents of the Coast, as well as the tourists who visit the area during the summer period, are already enjoying an extension of the bus service around the coast as well as more bus stops with better multi lingual signage and benches to sit on.
Four stops have also been fitted with shelters; one in Calle Nicholas de Bussi in Playa Flamenca, one by the Health Centre in Cabo Roig and two in Villamartín by the Zenia II urbanisation.
The Town Hall has also boasted that it has spent more than €100,000 on urban transport for the coast. As a result, the usage for the service has increased by 30% since May.”
The Councillor added that these numbers must be maintained to keep the service as it is because the Department of Urban Transport at the Town Hall already has a deficit of €120,000. However, Councillor for the Coast, Jose Antonio Aniorte, told the press conference that the bus service users are very happy with the service that is being provided by the Town Hall and has said that as long as that persists, the PP governing council will continue extending and improving the service to the continuous benefit of its users.
